What does the free AI visibility scan check?

In summary: the cite0 AI Visibility Scan is a free audit of how AI assistants like ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews see a local business. Type the business name, and in about a minute it reads the public Google listing and up to ten pages of the website the way an AI crawler does, scores what it finds out of 100, and gives you the three fixes that matter most — each with a prompt you can paste into ChatGPT or Claude to do it yourself.

Every check sits under one of five plain questions:

  1. Found — can AI find you? Whether AI crawlers can get into your site, whether your sitemap lists your pages, and whether your Google listing links to your website.
  2. Readable — can AI read your pages? Titles, descriptions, headings, and pages that show their words without JavaScript.
  3. Understood — does AI know what you do, and where? Your categories, phone and hours on Google, the behind-the-scenes labels on your pages, and whether your listing and your site agree.
  4. Trusted — does AI have reasons to trust you? Your reviews and rating, photos, and pages that say who wrote them and when.
  5. Quotable — do your pages say what AI wants to repeat? Direct answers up top, headings phrased as the questions people ask, and prices.

If cite0 has already collected AI answers for your trade and city, the scan adds a sixth: Named — how often ChatGPT named you when people asked, and who it named instead.

How does the scan work?

  1. Find your business. Start typing its name; suggestions come from Google, across Canada and the United States.
  2. Confirm the website. We take it from your Google listing — change it if it's wrong, or scan the listing alone.
  3. Read the report. Your Google listing is checked in seconds; your website arrives as soon as it has been read. Copy a fix prompt, download a one-page PDF, or share the link.

What does it cost?

The scan is free, with no account and no card — $0 for your score, the scorecard and your three most important fixes. Sign in with Google to unlock every issue and fix; that also starts your free 7-day demo. If you want AI asked your customers' real questions every week, across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, with the fixes done for you, the full analysis starts with a free 7-day demo; plans start at $99 USD a month (see pricing).

What doesn't the scan tell you?

It measures whether AI can find, read and trust you — not whether it will pick you. That also depends on what other websites say about you and on your competitors, which is what the full analysis tracks. The scan reads up to ten pages, runs no AI prompts of its own, and says on every result exactly what it read.

Can a developer run the scan from their own tools?

Soon. We're publishing the scan as a free skill for Claude Code and an MCP server, so a developer or agency can run it on a site from their editor and apply the fixes in the site's own code. Until then, every fix on a result page comes with a prompt they can paste into the AI tool they already use.

Frequently asked questions

Is the AI visibility scan really free?

Yes. The scan is free and needs no account or card: you get your score, the scorecard and your three most important fixes, each with a prompt you can paste into ChatGPT or Claude. What does the scan check?

It reads your public Google listing and up to ten pages of your website the way an AI crawler would, and answers five questions: can AI find you, read your pages, understand what you do and where, trust you, and quote you. Where cite0 has already collected AI answers for your trade and city, it also shows how often ChatGPT named you and who it named instead.

Does a high score mean ChatGPT will recommend my business?

No. The score measures whether AI can find, read and trust you — the things you control on your own listing and site. Whether AI picks you also depends on reviews, other websites that mention you, and your competitors. The scan says which part it measured on every result.

Which businesses can I scan?

Any business with a Google listing in Canada or the United States, or any website. You can scan a competitor the same way you scan yourself; the result only uses what is already public.

What do you do with my data?

The scan reads only what is already public — your Google listing and your website. The result is saved at a private link so you can share it, and kept so we can publish aggregate research. If you ask for the PDF we keep your email to send it, and nothing else. See our privacy policy.
