Fix the Google Business Profile signals AI uses
Your Google Business Profile is one of the first places an AI assistant looks when someone asks it to recommend a local business. Profile Optimization reads your whole profile, scores it across ten weighted areas, and returns a prioritised list of fixes — most of them one click, each with a draft you can edit before it publishes. It is included from $199 a month, where cite0 does the work rather than handing you a checklist.
USD, billed monthly, no long contract. Bundled from Boost upward alongside Radar and Web Readiness — there is no separate per-location listing fee and no citation-building upsell.
Why the profile decides so much of the answer
When an assistant is asked for a plumber in Leslieville or a med spa in Yorkville, it assembles the answer from sources that describe local businesses. The Google Business Profile is among the densest of those sources: it states in structured form what you do, where, when you are open, what you charge, what customers said, and what you said back.
That makes profile gaps expensive in a specific way. A missing primary category does not lower your position in a list — it removes you from a set of questions entirely. Unanswered questions on your profile leave the most common objection about your business answered by a stranger, or not at all. A description that never names your neighbourhood gives an assistant nothing to match against a neighbourhood query.
None of this is exotic. It is the unglamorous, checkable part of AI visibility, and it is the part most local businesses have never systematically audited.
The ten areas we score, and what each weighs
Every audit produces one overall score out of 100, which is a weighted aggregate of ten pillar scores. The weights are published here because a score whose weighting you cannot see is not a measurement, it is an opinion with a number attached.
| Area | Weight | What it checks |
|---|---|---|
| Profile completeness | 15% | Title, phone, address, website, hours, primary category, description, service area, coordinates, service items |
| Questions & answers | 15% | Unanswered questions — treated as critical — and how many answers came from you rather than the public |
| Reviews & responses | 15% | Volume, average rating, response rate, recency, and unanswered low-star reviews |
| Categories & services match | 10% | Whether the primary category is set, whether there are enough supporting categories, and whether service items line up with the catalogue of things people actually ask for |
| Business description | 10% | Length, and whether it names the service, the location and a trust signal |
| Service items | 10% | Enough items, each with a description, and pricing where publishing it is reasonable |
| Photos & video | 10% | Coverage across the photo categories, how recent they are, whether video exists |
| Local posts cadence | 8% | Age of the last post, mix of topics, whether posts carry a call to action |
| Hours & availability | 4% | Regular hours coverage and special hours for holidays |
| Trust signals & attributes | 3% | Verification status, booking URL, accessibility and payment attributes |
Two of the three heaviest pillars — questions and reviews — are about conversation rather than configuration. That is deliberate. Filling in your hours is table stakes; being the business that answers its own questions and replies to its own reviews is the part that produces quotable, first-party text about you, which is exactly what an assistant has to work with.
Alongside the score, each audit returns headline indicators — review velocity, response rate, action volume — and a review-theme analysis of what your reviews actually talk about, which is frequently not what the owner expects.
Publishing your prices is not a small item
Service items carry 10% of the score, and the sub-check for pricing is there on purpose. Explicit price on a page is one of the strongest observed factors in whether a source gets cited in an AI answer — and a profile that lists services without any price gives an assistant nothing to answer a “how much does X cost” question with. If publishing exact prices is genuinely impossible in your category, a stated range beats silence.
Find, then fix — with you in the loop
Detection is fully deterministic. The rules read one fetched snapshot of your profile and find the gaps; no audit makes a network call or an AI call while it runs, which is why the audit is instant and why every recommendation is reproducible.
Each recommendation arrives with a ready-to-edit template draft. If you want it sharper, an AI-polished version is a separate, deliberate, one-at-a-time step you trigger — never something that happens on page load. Nothing publishes to your profile without a person reading it first.
Four recommendation types apply directly back to the profile:
| Action | What gets drafted |
|---|---|
| Reply to a review | An owner reply pitched to the rating — thanks, recovery or apology — rather than one template applied to every star count |
| Answer a question | A merchant answer written to the topic of the question asked |
| Update the description | A description built from your primary category, your neighbourhood and your top services |
| Create a post | A service-highlight post scaffold with a call to action |
Recommendations that are informational — “get to twenty reviews” — carry no apply button, because pretending a button exists for something only time and customers can do would be dishonest interface design.
Profile Optimization compared, feature by feature

BrightLocal is a deep, mature local SEO platform and its citation network is something we do not attempt to match. The two products meet at the profile and then diverge. BrightLocal audits the fundamentals — is it verified, are the hours right, how many photos. cite0 audits the material an assistant has to build a sentence out of: whether the description names your neighbourhood, whether service items carry prices, whether your questions have merchant-authored answers, whether posts have run recently. Those are four of our ten pillars and none of them appear in a BrightLocal audit. And where BrightLocal’s AI visibility is announced, ours is running weekly on every tier.
cite0 vs Whitespark
| Capability | cite0 | Whitespark |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price, one location | $199 all-in | $1/mo Local Platform; $79/mo Reputation Builder; trackers from $10–$14/mo |
| Profile scored 0–100 | Yes — ten pillars, weights published | Not offered as a product |

| Content scoring for AI answers | Included at $499 | Not offered |
| Done-for-you | Included from $199 | GBP management $499/mo; GBP + website $1,999/mo |
Whitespark’s unbundled pricing is honestly attractive and its bulk-edit and edit-revert tooling is the best in the category. It is built for the map pack. If your question is “where do I rank in local search”, Whitespark answers it precisely. If your question is “does ChatGPT name me when someone asks for a business like mine”, cite0 is where that gets measured — and their done-for-you profile management starts at two and a half times our Boost price.
cite0 vs Yext
| Capability | cite0 | Yext |
|---|---|---|
| Price, one location | $199/mo, published | Self-serve tiers reported $199–$999 per location per year; enterprise contracts negotiated and not published |
| Listings model | Your own profile, your own access | Subscription sync across 200+ publishers; listings lapse if you stop paying |
| Profile scored with published weights | Yes — ten pillars | Visibility score; methodology not published |
| Audits description, service items, posts, attributes | Yes | Not published |
| Measures whether AI recommends the business | Yes — weekly, every tier | Yes — Scout, across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity |
| Website AEO audit with fixes | Included | Not offered |
| Content scoring for AI answers | Included at $499 | Not offered |
| Built for | Single-location local service businesses | Enterprise and multi-location brands |
Yext is the only platform in these tables that also measures AI answers, and Scout is a real product. It is also enterprise infrastructure: pricing is negotiated rather than published, onboarding is a project, and the listings you build are leased rather than owned. cite0 gives a single-location business the same class of measurement at a published monthly price, on a profile that stays yours.
What you get here and nowhere else
- The four pillars nobody else scores. Description quality, service items and their pricing, post cadence, and attributes. Across every platform above, no one audits these in a documented, scored way — and they are exactly the fields an assistant reads to decide what to say about you.
- Weights you can read. All ten pillars are published on this page, summing to 100. No competitor we examined publishes the weights behind its profile score.
- Profile work and AI measurement in the same subscription. Fix the description this week; see next week whether AI started describing you that way. Every local SEO platform above either measures AI or fixes profiles — only Yext does both, at enterprise pricing.
- Prices treated as a ranking signal, not an afterthought. Service items carry 10% of the score and pricing is a scored sub-check, because explicit price on a page is one of the strongest observed factors in whether a source gets cited.
- Done-for-you at $199. The comparable managed offerings in this category start at $499 and run to $1,999 a month.
How long does it take to see a change?
Profile edits themselves apply in hours to days, depending on what Google chooses to review. The downstream effect on AI answers is slower and less predictable: assistants pick sources up on their own schedule, and a profile improved this week may not change an answer for several weeks. This is exactly why the profile work and weekly answer tracking are sold together — without the tracking you have no way of telling whether the work landed, and you are left arguing from intuition.
Do you need access to my Google account?
To read your profile and apply fixes on your behalf, yes — you authorise cite0 against your Business Profile and can revoke it at any time. Nothing publishes without a person approving the draft, and every applied change is recorded so you can see what was changed, when, and by whom. If you would rather keep access entirely to yourself, take the audit and the drafts and apply them by hand; the recommendations are the same either way.
Will optimising my profile risk a suspension?
Nothing in this service does anything Google discourages. We do not stuff keywords into your business name, invent categories you do not serve, create additional listings for a single location, or solicit reviews in exchange for anything — those are the practices that get profiles suspended, and they are also, conveniently, the ones an AI assistant is increasingly able to see through. What we change is descriptions, categories that genuinely apply, service items, answers to real questions and replies to real reviews. If a recommendation ever looks to you like it crosses a line, refuse it — nothing publishes without your approval.
We will audit your profile before you pay anything, and show you the findings next to what AI currently says when someone asks for a business like yours.
Book a demoEach audit runs as a set of pure functions over a single fetched snapshot of one location’s profile — no network calls and no model calls during evaluation, so results are instant and reproducible. Pillar weights are as published above and sum to 100. Draft generation is a separate, explicitly triggered step, and every draft is editable before it publishes. Competitor pricing above was read from each vendor’s public pricing page on 25 August 2026 and may have changed since.
